#plastic pollution , #partnerships , #innovation

The Future of Plastic Waste Partnership Days in Seychelles took place online on 27 and 28 May 2021.

The event brought together 38 participants from various sectors (see breakdown below) and offered various workshops allowing networking and encouraging the emergence of collaborative projects.

6 project proposals have emerged around the following themes:

  • Understanding and mapping of plastic pollution sources
  • Physical collection of plastic waste
  • Transformation of collected plastics
  • Environmental education and awareness

At the end of 2021, a selection committee will determine the 3 winning projects of the program. They will receive a start-up budget and 6 months operational support.

In partnership with the Government of Seychelles, the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), the company SoScience, and the Société des Explorations de Monaco, this programme aims to identify and implement the best solutions to the local challenges and context of Seychelles on the issue of plastic waste. The actors brought together and the projects selected focus particularly on the collection and transformation of plastic.
